Everybody plans the install. Nobody plans the takedown
The whole discussion is about getting them lit. That is understandable. Then it is January, and the lights are still on the house. The people who thought about that in October have a much better January than the people who did not.And that is unfortunate, because the second half is the one that costs you if it is not covered. Anybody can put a display up. The question is whether anyone comes back. That question belongs in the first conversation, not the one you have in January.
Doing it yourself, honestly
The takedown is worse. Cold, dark by five, and nothing to look forward to. Then the strands go into a bin, and the bin goes into the attic, where they tangle, get crushed, and lose a section by next November.
The version worth paying for
On a properly structured holiday lighting service, takedown is not an add on. When the season ends, the same company returns and takes it all down. The lights get labeled, packed and kept in storage until next year, ready to reinstall the following season. You never handle any of it.
Why storage is not a small detail
Three things come out of somebody else storing it. Your attic stays empty, which is worth something in most houses. Condition is preserved, which is why so many strands die between seasons. And because they are labeled by where they go on your
https://evercrestlighting.com/permanent-lighting/ house, reinstall is faster and lands the same way it did last year.
The permanent alternative removes the question
The other option makes January irrelevant. A permanent LED system is installed one time and left in place, so there is nothing to take down and nothing to store, ever. It costs more up front and it makes sense for households that never skip a season. But if the takedown conversation is the part you dread, it is a fair question to raise.
The other question worth asking
Over a full season, something will eventually need a look. The question is who you call. Service during the season is either included or it is not, and you should know before December. Ask while you are still comparing companies, not on the twenty second of December.
Year two is much shorter
Year one has all the decisions in it. After that, the design already exists and the materials are already labeled. Next season comes down to picking a day. Changes start from what is already there, rather than starting over.
